5 Third-Party Clients for Telegram That You Should Pay Attention To
Unigram
Platforms: Windows 10, Xbox One.
Unigram is able to work not only on Windows 10 computers, but also on Xbox One consoles. So you’ll be able to call your contacts right from your TV, which is pretty interesting. Unigram’s simple and clean interface is in keeping with the style of Windows 10 and looks better on it than the original Telegram. It’s definitely the best client for users of this OS.
In Unigram, you can quickly switch between chat display options using hotkeys. For example, F1 will show all chats, F2 will show users, F3 will show groups you are a member of, F5 will show channels, and F6 will show only unread messages. The app has support for multiple accounts.
But the nicest feature is the integration with the People panel on the Windows 10 taskbar. You can put your favorite contacts there to always have access to them, and write to your friends without opening the client itself. Unigram also integrates with the “Share” menu so you can send files and links from the web to your contacts right away.
Bettergram
Platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux.
This is one of the most popular third-party clients for Telegram. It adds several useful features that the official app doesn’t have. Bettergram allows you to pin up to 50 chats instead of five as in the original Telegram, sort messages into categories, and tag important conversations to keep track of them faster.
Another useful feature of Bettergram is the ability to add it to the standard Send menu in Windows. This way you can send files, archives and photos to your contacts directly from the context menu of “Explorer” without having to drag and drop them between windows manually.
Pidgin
Platforms: Windows, Linux.
Pidgin is a universal quick messaging client used in many Linux distributions. But it has a version for Windows as well. It supports such communication protocols as Google Talk, IRC, Jabber and many others, and with the help of plugins you can add support for Telegram, Slack, Skype or Discord. Pidgin will come in handy if you don’t want to keep a bunch of messengers open at the same time and prefer to collect all your contacts in one window.
Adium
Platforms: macOS.
This is almost the same as Pidgin, but developed specifically for macOS. The program allows you to send messages via many communication protocols, including Telegram. To do this, you’ll have to install the same Telegram-Purple plugin. Just download the Mac version of the plugin and open it by double-clicking it, then enter your phone number.
Plus Messenger
Platforms: Android.
An alternative Telegram client for Android smartphones, featuring a more user-friendly and thoughtful interface. Your chats, groups, channels, bots and favorites are organized in tabs instead of being mixed together like in the official app.
You can pin up to 100 chats and put up to 20 stickers in your favorites. It supports simultaneous work with up to 10 accounts. And finally, Plus Messenger lets you copy individual fragments of long text messages – a feature that’s missing from the original Telegram.
