SlimFacebook: A Lightweight and Clean Facebook Client

SlimFacebook is a free and lightweight open source Facebook client that becomes a great alternative to the heavyweight official app. It weighs only about 600 KB, making it one of the most compact Facebook clients on Android, slightly larger in size than Facebook Lite, but noticeably faster and cleaner in operation.

Functionality

Despite its small size, SlimFacebook provides almost all of Facebook’s basic functionality:

  • Viewing the news feed and publishing posts.
  • Adding comments and likes.
  • Manage groups and pages.
  • Viewing and uploading photos.
  • Notifications of new actions (with support for system notifications).
  • Support for dark mode (in some builds).

All this – without unnecessary animations, telemetry or intrusive suggestions.

No ads, no tracking

One of the main advantages of SlimFacebook is the absence of embedded ads and minimal permissions. Unlike the original client, the app:

  • Does not require access to microphone, location, or calls.
  • Is limited to only the media access required to upload/send photos.
  • Does not conduct hidden activity in the background, which is especially important for privacy-conscious users.

SlimFacebook and Turbo mode

In some builds (e.g. in modified versions or via settings), a so-called Turbo mode is available, which:

  • Removes visual unnecessary elements from the interface.
  • Speeds up page loading by blocking unnecessary scripts.
  • Reduces mobile traffic consumption.

Is it suitable for you?

If you:

  • Want to save space and device resources;
  • Care about privacy and want minimum permissions;
  • You are satisfied with the basic functionality without unnecessary “features”;

…then SlimFacebook is exactly what you need. It is especially suitable for older phones, phones with low memory capacity, and for those who want to use Facebook without constant distractions and overload.

Important: SlimFacebook is not an official client and may not be directly supported by Facebook, so be careful when downloading from third-party sources.
